Sam joined Root & Rebound in 2024 as an In-Prison Programs Attorney, where he co-leads the biweekly Re-Entry Workshops at Folsom State Prison and staffs the weekly Re-Entry Legal Hotline.
Sam received his J.D. from Columbia Law School in 2022. Following law school, he was one of two recipients of the Kirkland & Ellis NYC Public Service Fellowship, which supported his work at the Center for Appellate Litigation’s Clemency Project. For his fellowship project, he contributed to multiple successful clemency applications on behalf of incarcerated New Yorkers serving disproportionately long sentences. Following the completion of his fellowship, Sam moved to Oakland and joined the East Bay Community Law Center as a Temporary Staff Attorney in the Housing Unit, where he represented low income Bay Area residents in eviction proceedings. In his free time, Sam enjoys practicing guitar and piano, playing tennis, and exploring his new adopted home of the Bay. All recommendations for places to see, things to eat, or outdoor areas to explore are extremely welcome!
Sam is licensed to practice law in California and New York.
