Gabrielle is a Root & Rebound Paralegal in the South Carolina Office.
Gabrielle received her B.S. in Communications with a Conflict Focus and a Women’s Studies Minor from Frostburg State University in 2017 and is currently in her second year of law school at Vermont Law and Graduate School set to graduate with her J.D. on the Restorative Justice track in 2026.
Gabrielle believes that she is destined to amplify the voices that have historically been silenced. Born into a mixed race family of addiction and poverty in Los Angeles, the stark differences in being raised in the middle class suburbs of Southern Maryland during her formative years gave Gabrielle the perspective that opportunity and privilege were inherited commodities. She dedicated her advocacy to the LGBT community, reproductive rights, and racial equity through her roles as not only a student representative, but a leader in marches and presentations focused on the intersectionality of misogynoir on projects like the President’s Advisory Council Against Gender Based Violence. After interning with NARAL Pro-Choice Maryland, Gabrielle turned her attention to the Maternal Mortality Crisis in America disproportionately affecting Black Women; most notably raising funds and awareness for a Drive-Thru Community Baby Shower during the height of the pandemic and providing free resources and formula to families in need. She supports the idea that as an interconnected community, we should take more opportunities to humanize all people, especially justice-impacted folks to mitigate harms perpetuated by mass incarceration which will lead to healing on a community level.
After working with the Youth Advocate Programs, Inc. and becoming a mother, Gabrielle found enormous value in second chances and a deeper knowledge in the archaic nature of the criminal justice’s punitive system. Gabrielle dedicated her research to the role the community plays in shaming individuals, focusing on the misbehavior to dehumanize, and the lack of community accountability in perpetuating harm. Gabrielle’s current passion project focuses on Restorative Parenting which merges conscious parenting and restorative justice with a goal to right the wrongs of white settler colonialism to honor our ancestors, heal the current community and give integrity to the next generation.
