Root & Rebound is excited to be awarded The Michelson 20MM Foundation’s Spark Grant supporting our Incarceration to Education Initiative, where we will seek to build a coalition to support formerly incarcerated people as they pursue higher education with the goal of increasing diversity on college and graduate campuses, increasing opportunities for people with records, and, significantly increasing educational attainment and meaningful career prospects for students who have been justice impacted.

Students with records face a myriad of barriers to education and employment, often fed the myth that their criminal records disqualify them from access to higher education, as well as financial aid and other resources. Instead of receiving the support they so badly need, they are at the mercy of a system that fails to reflect their lived experiences and erects roadblocks to their success.
