Darya Kashani is the Program Coordinator at Root & Rebound, where she coordinates the recruitment, onboarding, and supervision of law clerks and volunteers while also overseeing volunteer communications and community engagement.

Darya is a recent graduate from San Jose State University, and received her BA in Justice Studies. During her time at SJSU, Darya actively contributed to the SJSU Record Clearance Project, assisting clients with clearing their criminal records and gaining valuable insights into expungement laws.

Darya’s commitment to justice and community education is evident from her extensive experience presenting on record clearance. She has delivered impactful presentations to various organizations, including Elmwood County Jail, City Team, Recovery Cafe, and Californians for Safety and Justice. Her role in these community education efforts highlights her dedication to empowering individuals with knowledge about their rights and available legal remedies.

Additionally, Darya has gained hands-on experience by attending clients’ court hearings and working on drafting court petitions and declarations, further honing her skills in legal support and advocacy.
